Is cutting hair for women forbidden?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth and final question in the letter from the listener Umm Abdullah from Riyadh, in which she says: Is cutting hair forbidden or permissible? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: If cutting hair is done to reduce its volume, there is nothing wrong with it. If a woman cuts her hair to reduce its volume, there is nothing wrong with it. It is established that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cut their hair after his death (peace and blessings be upon him) to reduce its volume, (peace and blessings be upon him), and may Allah be pleased with them.
The point is that if the cutting is for the purpose of reducing volume, and not with the intention of imitating men, nor with the intention of imitating disbelieving women, but rather she cuts it to reduce its volume, then there is nothing wrong with it. Yes.
