Ruling on leaving the congregational prayer due to the distance of the mosque
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message was received by the program from Jordan, sent by our brother Muhammad Muhammad Abd al-Latif from the Sharqiyah Governorate. Our brother says: We are a group of workers who pray in our residence, while the mosque is about one kilometer away from us. Is our prayer valid or not?
Answer: The prayer is valid, but you have fallen short in leaving the congregation. It is obligatory for you to perform it in congregation in the houses of Allah , as Allah the Exalted said: [al-Nur: 36], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: Bulugh al-Maram 2:308.
So it is obligatory for you to hasten to perform it in congregation in the houses of Allah. As for what has passed, the prayer is valid, and you must repent and seek forgiveness, if you can hear the call to prayer when the voices are quiet, you would hear the normal call from the minaret.
But in any case, you should hasten to perform it in congregation and beware of being lax in performing it in the residence. Generally, the call can be heard at a distance of one kilometer if the voices are quiet and the mu'adhdhin has a good voice, so generally his voice is heard from this distance. And Allah is the Helper. Yes.

in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein
فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُWhoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.
