Ruling on breaking the fast in Ramadan for one who has a stomach ulcer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The following message was received by the program from Mosul, Iraq, and was sent by one of the sisters from there. Her name is Nahla Qasim Ahmad. The message is actually long, O Shaykh. To summarize, her mother suffers from a stomach ulcer, and the doctor advised her not to fast for two or three years. After that, she should begin fasting only two days out of every week, and so on, until her condition improves. She asks about the ruling, O Shaykh?
Answer: Allah has prescribed for the sick person to break the fast. He, the Exalted, said:
and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other daysوَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ
[Surat al-Baqarah: 185]. So, if it is established by the statement of a trustworthy doctor, or two doctors, that this internal illness will harm her if she fasts, then there is no harm in breaking the fast. She should rely on the statement of a trustworthy doctor. If she exercises caution by consulting two doctors, that is more complete and better. If they determine that fasting will harm her with regard to the ulcer or another illness, then she should break the fast; this is what is best for her. Then she must make up the missed days in a way that does not harm her. Yes.
