The ruling on a person seeking forgiveness for his deceased parents

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
My mother seeks forgiveness and glorifies Allah for her parents, one hundred times for each of them every day. What is the ruling on seeking forgiveness for one's parents after their death?

Answer:
That is a good thing. Seeking forgiveness for one's parents and for the Muslims—seeking forgiveness for oneself, for one's parents, and for the Muslims—is a prescribed matter. As Noah (peace be upon him) said, "My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my home as a believer." And as Allah said to our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), "And seek forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women." Seeking forgiveness for oneself, for one's parents, for one's relatives, and for one's Muslim brothers, both the living and the dead, is a sought-after matter, and a person should do this frequently.
