Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In His saying (Blessed and Exalted is He): (The Most Merciful rose above the Throne), what is the meaning of this verse? And what is the meaning of "rose above"?

Answer:
Answer: The verse is clear that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) rose above the Throne, meaning: He is High, He is Exalted, and He is Above the Throne, all of these are meanings. Rising above the Throne is among the attributes of action, whereas being High is among the attributes of essence, permanent and necessary to His essence. As for rising above, He does it when He wills; because Allah mentioned it and arranged it after the creation of the heavens and the earth: (He created the heavens and the earth in six days, then rose above the Throne). So it is an attribute of action which He does when He wills (Glorified and Exalted is He), and as for its modality, no one knows it except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
