The ruling on the meeting of the souls of the deceased and the living in dreams
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q352: The questioner asks: Do the souls of the deceased meet with the souls of the living in dreams, as is commonly said among people in our current time?
A352: This has a basis, and one may seek corroboration for it in the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Az-Zumar 39:42] , and it has been reported from some of the Salaf that the souls of the deceased meet with the souls of the living, and therefore a dream occurs, and it happens for a person to see his relative, or to see someone in a dream and be advised by them of things. This is a reality, with the corroboration of the noble verse and the saying of some of the Salaf: that the souls of the living and the souls of the deceased gather, then they separate afterwards.
A352: This has a basis, and one may seek corroboration for it in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term
