Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is meant by idtibaa' and when is it prescribed, and is it in Hajj and 'Umrah?

Answer:
Answer: Idtibaa' is when the person in ihram places the middle of his outer garment under his left armpit and puts its two ends over his right shoulder. It is his left shoulder that is covered, not the other way around; he places the garment under his left armpit and its ends over his right shoulder. When he comes to the tawaf for 'Umrah and the first tawaf for Hajj, for example, if he is performing ifrad, he performs idtibaa', meaning he uncovers his right shoulder, leaving it exposed during the tawaf. This is idtibaa'.
