Question:
What is the ruling on one who hears the adhan and does not go to the mosque to pray? Is his prayer in the house accepted, or not?

Answer:
Answer: Congregational prayer is obligatory. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever hears the call to prayer and does not come to it, there is no prayer for him except for one who has an excuse.” Therefore, it is obligatory for him to pray with the congregation if he hears the call and is able to attend. If he prays in his house while he is able to pray with the congregation, his prayer is valid, but he commits a sin by leaving the congregational prayer without an excuse.
