Ruling on the prayer of one who performs tayammum without the intention of removing major ritual impurity
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q89: The questioner says: I was hospitalized during the winter and the cold, and I became in a state of major ritual impurity, but I was unable to perform the full ritual bath. I would perform tayammum when the time for prayer arrived without intending to remove the major ritual impurity. I remained in this state for two weeks, praying in this manner. What is the ruling on this action?
A89: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 1 If you did not intend to remove the major ritual impurity by tayammum, then it is not removed. Therefore, you must make up these prayers that you performed. They are only a few days, and there is no hardship for you in making them up, and praise be to Allah.
A89: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.
