The Best and Most Prioritized Channels of Spending

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

Fatwa No. ( 20964 )

Q: Many people of good differ: Which avenues of financial spending are better, more preferable, and greater in reward? Is it charity for the poor and needy, or feeding those who are fasting, or contributing to what concerns establishing the religion and calling to Allah the Exalted, clarifying the truth, and warning against what contradicts it by printing and distributing religious books, sponsoring callers to Allah, and the like of the ways of calling to Allah the Exalted? Please issue a ruling for which you will be rewarded, so that the benefit may be widespread, for the one who guides to good is like the one who does it. May Allah preserve you.
A : There are many channels of good, praise be to Allah, and it is prescribed for the Muslim to do what he is able to from them, hoping for the reward of Allah and to assist his Muslim brothers. However, some channels of spending are better than others when there is a need for them, or when there are few spenders in that channel, or similar reasons for preference. If it is easy for the Muslim to have a share in every channel of spending, that is good. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
