Traveling for 'Umrah and Spending in the Cause of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 9622 )
Q1: May Allah guide me. In 1401 AH, I was able to perform the obligatory Hajj (in the form of Qiran), meaning Hajj and 'Umrah together. In 1402 AH, circumstances permitted me, with Allah's guidance, to perform the obligatory Hajj on behalf of my mother (may Allah have mercy on her). These days, I feel a longing for the pure, blessed land, and I am drawn to the tawaf around the Ka'bah and the sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah , then visiting the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) mosque and his two companions, and praying in the Noble Garden. So, if I undertake this voluntary act, is there any wastefulness or
extravagance? In other words: suppose I have money, and this money is sufficient to perform 'Umrah, and before me is the project of donating to the mujahideen of Islam in Afghanistan, in which direction should I place this money; should I donate it to the mujahideen or perform 'Umrah? May Allah reward you all with good.

A1: Both traveling for 'Umrah and spending in the cause of Allah are good, praiseworthy deeds. However, the benefit of 'Umrah is limited to the one who performs it, whereas the benefit of spending in jihad extends to others; therefore, giving in that regard is more preferable and better. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
