Committing a sexual act with an animal while fasting
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14147 )
Q: A young man says: In a distant past, he wronged himself and did not control his desires, and Satan caused him to commit an act with an animal – we seek refuge in Allah – and he also used to commit the secret habit. He said that he committed the secret habit while fasting in Ramadan , and that he knew it was forbidden but thought that it did not invalidate his fast. He said that at that time he was careful to fast from food and drink despite the long days and intense heat, and that he maintained the prayer. His question is: 1 - Does he owe anything regarding fasting for the days on which he did this while fasting, or not? Even though he does not know how many days it was. 2 - Does he owe an expiation for his act with the animal? This is the text of his question. I ask you, may Allah preserve you, to send the answer clearly and quickly; because I saw him worried and regretful of what he did, may Allah preserve you as a treasure for the Muslims.
A: It is obligatory for the young man mentioned to repent from committing an act with the animal and the secret habit, and to seek forgiveness, and to make up the number of days on which he broke his fast by doing so. He owes no expiation except the expiation for delaying the make-up, which is: feeding one poor person for every day he delayed making it up until another Ramadan. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
