A loan for Hajj
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16360 )
Q2: A man wants to perform Hajj but does not have sufficient money, so he borrowed from a friend on the condition that he would repay after Hajj if Allah made it easy for him , and he agreed with the friend from whom he borrowed that the friend would forgive the debt if he could not pay it off. Is this valid?
A2 : Hajj is not obligatory except upon the one who is able, and that is the one who finds the money that covers his expenses and the expenses of those he supports until he returns, and is sufficient for the expenses of his Hajj. He is not required to borrow for the sake of Hajj, but since he has borrowed and performed Hajj, his Hajj is valid, and if the lender forgives him regarding the repayment, there is no harm. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
