The first and second questions from Fatwa No. ( 17086 )
Q1: A man had intercourse with his wife during the day in Ramadan while fasting, being ignorant of the ruling and the expiation , and after that the matter became clear to him, so what is obligatory upon him?
A1: Whoever has intercourse with his wife during the day in Ramadan, the expiation becomes obligatory upon him, which is: freeing a believing slave, and if he does not find one, he must fast two consecutive months, and if he is unable to do so, he must feed sixty poor people, along with repentance and making up that day, and his ignorance of its prohibition and the obligation of the expiation does not exempt him from the expiation, and he lives in these lands, and his wife must do the same as what is obligatory upon him.
Q2: Regarding the expiation of feeding a poor person, does the food include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or is it one meal ?
A2: The sufficient amount for feeding, if it is by way of ownership, is one and a half kilograms of wheat, rice, dates, or similar staple food of the country for each poor person, and if it is by way of permission and access, it is one filling meal for each poor person, either lunch or dinner, so he feeds the sixty poor people lunch or dinner. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
