I broke my fast one day of Ramadan intentionally

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18054 )
Q: I broke my fast one day of Ramadan intentionally, and I wanted to feed (60) poor people. The question: Is it required to feed them all at once, or can I feed, for example, 4 poor people each day, or three? Is it permissible for me to feed them if the poor people are members of my family: my father, my mother, my brothers?
A: If the breaking of the fast in Ramadan was not due to sexual intercourse, then there is no expiation in it according to the correct opinion; rather, what is obligatory is repentance and making up that day on which the
breaking of the fast occurred. And if the breaking of the fast was due to sexual intercourse, then there is repentance and making up that day, and the expiation is: freeing a believing slave. So whoever does not find one, then fasting two consecutive months. So whoever is unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor people. And if one reaches the stage of feeding due to inability to do what came before it, namely freeing and fasting, it is permissible to give the food to the poor people all at once, and to distribute it in installments according to ability, but it is necessary to cover the number of poor people. And it is not permissible to give the feeding in the expiation to the ancestors, who are the fathers and mothers and grandfathers and grandmothers, nor to the descendants, who are the children and the children of the children, male and female. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
