The postpartum woman must make up the days she missed in Ramadan
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18041 )
Q1: My wife has days from the month of Ramadan to make up due to childbirth, which has been the case for several months since Ramadan. I have always advised her to make up what she owes, and every time I advise her, she responds that she is ready, but she does not keep her promise. Instead, she fasts for periods and then stops fasting ?
A1: If the situation is as described, it is obligatory for your wife to make up the days she missed in Ramadan due to childbirth. It is not permissible for her to delay making them up until the next Ramadan arrives. If she delays them without a valid excuse, she has committed a sin. She must repent, hasten to make up the fasts, and pay an expiation for the delay by feeding one poor person for each day with one and a half kilograms of rice or a similar staple food of the country. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
