The questioner : What is the ruling on one who orders his children to pray from the age of discernment until they reach the age of fifteen, and after that these children or sons do not respond to their fathers? So what do you advise the fathers regarding this responsibility in maintaining the prayer?

The Shaykh : I think that one who fears Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and follows the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his instruction regarding his children, male and female, in prayer—ordering them at seven and beating them for it at ten—and asks Allah for their guidance, I do not think that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will disappoint him in his children, and that they will be upright.
But the problem is that some people neglect this trust and do not care whether their children pray or not, whether they are righteous or corrupt, whether they are upright or deviate. Then, when they grow up, they are punished by their children’s undutifulness toward them, because they did not fear Allah in them, so they did not fear Allah in him. I do not think that anyone who fears Allah in his children and follows the path of the Shari'ah in guiding them, except that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will guide his children.
