The ruling on a father praying with his children at home
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers sent a message in which he preferred not to mention his name. He asks and says: There is a man who prays with his sons at home, and we advise him often to pray in the mosque, he and his sons. He prays at home and says: "To ensure that they have prayed." Is this man's action valid? Or is it necessary for him to pray in the mosque after that? He comes and prays with his children. Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
It is obligatory for him and his children to pray in the mosque. They are all required to pray in the mosque, and he must hold them accountable and seek help from Allah regarding them, so that they pray with him in the mosque, due to the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:5. So he must strive in this and be eager for them to go with him to the mosque. It is not permissible for him to pray at home. As for any of them who lags behind, if he is ten years old or older, he should discipline him. If he is seven years old or older but less than ten, there is no physical discipline required of him, but rather good words, advice, and guidance. However, when he reaches ten, he becomes deserving of being struck until he is corrected. Yes.
