Fatwa number ( 16771 )
Q: He performed Hajj in the year 1414 AH with his wife. On the twelfth day, his wife entrusted him to throw the stones on her behalf. So he went to throw the stones for himself and his wife, but the severe congestion prevented him from throwing the middle and large pillars, as he was only able to throw the small pillar . He returned to the camp, as he was attached to a group that would not wait. On the way to the camp, an Egyptian whom he did not know met him and informed him of what had happened. The Egyptian volunteered to be entrusted to throw the stones on his behalf and on behalf of his wife. What is the ruling on this throwing, and what is obligatory for me and my wife?
A : It is obligatory for the questioner to slaughter a fidyah in Makkah : which is a sheep that qualifies as an udhiyah, or one-seventh of a camel, or one-seventh of a cow, and to distribute it to the poor in Makkah in place of the throwing that he and his wife left. Likewise, it is obligatory for her to pay a fidyah. And whoever cannot afford the fidyah, he must fast for ten days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
