The Virtue of Consistently Attending the Mosques
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q246: The questioner asks: When a Muslim becomes accustomed to attending the mosques, is he certified as having faith simply by his habit of attending the mosques?
A246: We base our judgment on the apparent; so if he frequents the mosques, prays with the congregation, and maintains this, we certify him with that. Allah the Exalted said:[At-Tawbah 9:18], and it was reported in a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sunan Ibn Majah 802Da'if (Darussalam) But there is a defect in the chain of this hadith. However, the noble verse: [At-Tawbah 9:18], contains evidence that the one who frequents
the mosques and persists in that with the congregation; that this is a sign of faith. And we have nothing but the apparent, just as missing the congregation is among the signs of hypocrisy. For this reason, Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "And indeed we saw that none of us missed it except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was manifest, and indeed we saw that a man would be carried between two men until he was placed in the row, and none of you has a mosque in his house, and if you prayed in your houses and left your mosques, you would have left the Sunnah of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and if you left the Sunnah of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), you would have disbelieved." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say:Sunan Ibn Majah 797Sahih (Darussalam) Attending the mosques and persisting in the congregational prayer with the Muslims is a sign of faith, and missing it without an excuse is a sign of hypocrisy.

The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah
If you see a man frequenting the mosques, then bear witness to his faith

The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the 'Isha' prayer and the Fajr prayer. If only they knew what (reward) there is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl.
