The Ruling on Exaggeration in the Love of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q201: The questioner, Mustafa, residing in Riyadh, says: Loving the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory upon us according to what the Shari'ah requires. What is the ruling on exaggeration in this love? And what are the guidelines for loving the Messenger
(peace and blessings be upon him) so that it is in accordance with the Sunnah?
A201: Loving the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory after loving Allah the Exalted. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 5015Sahih (Darussalam) But one must not exaggerate in it. The Mawlid celebrations have emerged, in the name of love for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as they say; these are religious innovations. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani). And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Ibn Hibban 6:107 So it is not permissible to exaggerate in praising the Messenger, nor in loving the Messenger, but rather one must follow what is prescribed in that regard.
(peace and blessings be upon him) so that it is in accordance with the Sunnah?
A201: Loving the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory after loving Allah the Exalted. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
none of you has believed until I am dearer to him than his son or his father.
