The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17381 )
Q2: I travel with my family to Makkah al-Mukarramah to perform the rites of 'Umrah and stay in Makkah for a week. I have a problem that has happened to me more than once, which is that one or two days of my menstrual period remain when we reach the miqat. I am shy about telling my family about my condition, so I enter the state of ihram with my family from the miqat and wear the ihram clothes, since it is not permissible to pass the sacred precinct without entering ihram from it. Then we go to Makkah and they perform the 'Umrah, while I sit in the house until the menstrual period ends. I am wearing the ihram clothes and try, as much as I can, not to violate my ihram. It is well known that a woman must take a full ritual bath after becoming pure, so should I intend
Should I intend to enter ihram again from the place where I am staying, or should I be content with the first intention of ihram that I made at the miqat, and consider the ghusl I perform from the place where I am staying as being for purity from menstruation? It is known that one of the things that invalidate ihram is the falling out of hair. So, will my ihram be invalidated if it is still in effect?
A2: If a woman passes the miqat intending to perform the rites, but menstruation or post-natal bleeding has come upon her, she enters ihram and remains in her ihram until she becomes pure and takes a ghusl, then she performs 'Umrah. There is nothing required of her regarding her ghusl or changing her clothes, but she must avoid adornment in clothing, perfume, and the other prohibitions of ihram until she completes the rites of 'Umrah. If some of the hair on her head falls out during the ghusl without her intention, there is nothing required of her. She should intend with her ghusl that it is the ghusl for the end of menstruation, and it is not prescribed for her to repeat the intention of ihram anew, because she has not left the ihram she intended at the miqat. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
