The Ruling on Complaining When Affliction Descends

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q153: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on complaining when a person is struck by a calamity, such as the burning of his house or the death of his children?
A153: Complaining about the divine decree and destiny of Allah is forbidden, and it indicates weakness of faith and its scarcity. The Muslim must be pleased with the divine decree and destiny of Allah. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said:
(155) And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (156) Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
