Naming Oneself "Fasih Allah"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20220 )
Q: My grandfather was given the nickname "Fasih Allah," and this became the family name. Because people frequently ask about its meaning and why my grandfather was given this nickname, many have advised us to change it. We submitted a request to the Civil Affairs Department to change the nickname to the name preceding it, which is "Hafiz." This is the name we know he was given because he memorized the Book of Allah the Exalted and worked as a teacher of the Noble Qur'an in the Orphanage in Madinah . The Civil Affairs Department asked us to provide them with a fatwa stating that it is not permissible to be named or nicknamed with this name or that it is inappropriate. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah?
A: It is not obligatory to change this name, because there is no harm in it; for "Fasih" is the opposite of "A'jam" (non-Arabic), and it is an addition of the created to its Creator, like "the she-camel of Allah" and "the creation of Allah." And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
