Fatwa number ( 13993 )
Q: I inform you that I am a graduate of the institutes in Riyadh, and by the grace of Allah, it was facilitated for me to obtain the university degree. After graduation, I joined the military service and was granted the rank of officer, which has been the case since 1402 AH. It is not hidden from you that a university graduate is paid fifty thousand riyals (50,000) if he has not previously worked in the government sector, and I had previously worked for five years as a teacher with an institute certificate, and after Allah the Exalted guided us, I began to think about this fifty thousand day and night: is it lawful or forbidden? I tried to return it to the department I belong to, but that would result in a military trial and serious inquiries for the officer. Therefore, I hope for your guidance regarding it: can I send it to the mujahideen in Palestine or Afghanistan or any Muslim country that needs it? Please inform us, may Allah grant you success.
A: If the matter is as you mentioned, then you should give the mentioned amount in charity to the poor. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
