Fatwa No. ( 13820 )
Q: I had a sum of 500 pounds, so I deposited it with a Muslim to work with it and share the profit in an Islamic manner. Then the amount was returned, and when I took it, I did not inform anyone in the house. Then, between myself and myself, I said:
This amount, if Allah wills, will be for jihad, meaning assistance for that, to travel to Saudi Arabia and from there to Afghanistan, then it happened that I found out that this amount is not enough for travel and not enough for anything. Now I need it to help with marriage. So, is it permissible, if Allah wills, for me to use it for marriage or not?

A: This promise you made to spend the aforementioned amount on jihad, which you followed up with an exception, does not obligate you to fulfill it, and there is no harm in spending the amount on marriage. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
