Building Homes for Orphans
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. After that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed
what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from His Excellency, the General Director of the Makkah al-Mukarramah Charitable Foundation , and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars with number (854) and date 19/1/1423 AH. His Excellency asked a question, the text of which is as follows: We inform your Eminence that the Makkah al-Mukarramah Charitable Foundation , affiliated with the Muslim World League, is building homes for orphans. These homes raise the orphans on the correct creed and teach them the Noble Qur'an and beneficial sciences, as well as providing them with sustenance, housing, and medical treatment. The question is: Is building these homes considered ongoing charity?
After studying the inquiry, the Committee answered that what was mentioned is considered ongoing charity, in the sense that it constitutes an endowment for this entity.
