Visiting graves in order to greet the deceased and make du'a for them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18647 )
Q 2: My father (may Allah have mercy on him) passed away last year, and since that date I have been visiting the cemetery, greeting him, and making du'a for him while facing the qiblah, with his grave in front of me. Is this correct or not, and what is the manner in which I should do this, along with the du'a? May Allah reward you with good?
A 2 : Visiting graves in order to greet the deceased, make du'a for them, and take a lesson from their condition is prescribed; due to the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his saying:
Visit the graves, for they will remind you of the Hereafter.زوروا القبور فإنها تذكر بالآخرة
Sunan Ibn Majah 1569Sahih (Darussalam)
So what you are doing of visiting your father's grave and making du'a for him while facing the qiblah, with his grave in front of you, all of this is permissible, and praise be to Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
