Preoccupation with worldly matters during prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18202 )
Q: Sometimes I pray while my mind is preoccupied with a worldly matter instead of the prayer. Do I have to repeat my prayer again?
A: It is prescribed for the Muslim to devote his heart to his prayer and to reflect on the verses of the Noble Qur'an and the obligatory dhikr he recites in it, with humility, as Allah Mighty and Majestic said:
(1) Certainly will the believers have succeeded: (2) They who are during their prayer humbly submissiveقَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ (1) الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ
[Al-Mu'minun 23:1-2]
If the one praying becomes preoccupied with something that arises during his prayer, it is obligatory for him to turn away from that distraction and return to his prayer. This does not harm him, and he is not required to repeat the prayer. However, he must be composed in his bowing and prostration, after bowing, and between the two prostrations, until every vertebra returns to its place. He must also pay attention to the prescribed dhikr and increase his supplication in prostration; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Glorify your Lord in Ruku' (bowing posture) and exert yourself in supplication in prostration. Thus your supplications are liable to be accepted.أما الركوع فعظموا فيه الرب وأما السجود فاجتهدوا في الدعاء فقمن أن يستجاب لكم
Riyad as-Salihin 1427
narrated by Muslim in his (Sahih) with the meaning: (Qumun) is a mistake. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The nearest a servant come to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication often.أقرب ما يكون العبد من ربه وهو ساجد فأكثروا الدعاء
Sunan Abi Dawud 875Sahih (Al-Albani)
reported by Muslim in his (Sahih). And Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to straighten up when he raised his head from bowing until one would say: he has forgotten. And when he sat between the two prostrations, he would remain until one would say: he has forgotten.كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا رفع من الركوع اعتدل حتى يقول القائل: قد نسي، وإذا جلس بين السجدتين مكث حتى يقول القائل: قد نسي

And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
