Shaving a Woman’s Head

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18988 )
Q 2: I have an aunt in the house who is elderly and ill. She says that the hair on her head is bothering her. Is it permissible for her to shave it?
A 2: Shaving a woman’s head is forbidden except out of dire necessity, such as her inability to comb it, or the presence of many insects in it, especially if she is elderly or ill, or if there are sores or burns on the scalp or similar conditions, and if leaving the hair causes her harm and delays healing. In this case, there is no harm in shaving it or shortening it.
And he was askedImam Ahmadabout a woman who is unable to apply oil or anything that would improve it, and animals fall into it; should she remove it? He said: If it is out of dire necessity, I hope there is no harm in it. But if it is not out of dire necessity, it is forbidden for her to shave it; (because Hammad ibn Salama narrated from Qatadah fromHammad ibn Salamafrom Qatadah fromAisha, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Messenger of Allah prohibited that a woman should shave her head.نهى أن تحلق المرأة رأسها
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 914Hasan (Darussalam)
and the scholars act in accordance with this, not considering shaving permissible for a woman, but considering shortening obligatory for her), meaning shortening her hair in Hajj and 'Umrah only, and this hadith was narrated byal-Tirmidhiin (al-Jami' al-Sahih) in the chapter on Hajj, and it was narrated byal-Nasa'iin his Sunan, number 9297/1, from'Ali(may Allah be pleased with him). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
