Children entering mosques
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18188 )
Q 1: Is it permissible for children to enter mosques, and what is the response to those who say that it is not permissible for children to enter the mosque?
A 1: If the child is of discernment, it is prescribed to bring him to the mosque so that he becomes accustomed to praying with the congregation of Muslims. It is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sunan Abi Dawud 495Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani) . As for what is narrated in this regard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), namely his saying: Sunan Ibn Majah 750 , it is not authentic. However, if the child is not of discernment, it is better that he not be brought to the mosque, because he does not understand the prayer or the meaning of the congregation, and because of the harm he may cause to the worshippers.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
