Removing Harmful Trees in the Cemetery
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 19339 )
Q: There is a cemetery surrounded by the city of Dammad on all sides. The southern part of the cemetery is heavily covered with date palms and acacia trees to the extent that it has become a forest inhabited by large snakes and many other pests, such as scorpions. It has become a threat to the neighbors, as they climb up to them day and night. This part, which is covered with trees and harms the deceased buried there, was under the rule of the Adhras dynasty until the early Saudi era, and no human being is able to enter it or pass through it. We ask Allah, then you, for two things: First, is it permissible to uproot this forest with tractors due to its harm and the inability of humans to deal with it, or to burn it with fire after spraying it with insecticides?
A : If the matter is as described, there is no objection to removing the harmful trees in the cemetery, provided that this is done using only hand tools; in order to preserve the sanctity of the deceased and prevent their desecration. The municipality in your area should undertake this task. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
