Supplication at the End of the Mushaf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eleventh question of Fatwa No. ( 18762 )
Q11: We have a mushaf in the Girls' Education Department in Shaqra, and at its end, like a khatmah, there is a supplication that says: “O Allah, convey the reward of what we have recited as a gift to the spirit of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and to the spirits of other people.” This is according to what is mentioned on page (524) attached with these questions. Some of the people in our department say: It is not permissible to dedicate a supplication to the spirits of the dead. We ask for your guidance: should we use it or leave it, and read the one that contains a supplication for the reciter without the spirits of the dead?
A11: It is not permissible to make supplication with the aforementioned words, neither in the completion of
the Qur'an nor in anything else; because it has not been transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so it is an innovated supplication. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
