Seasonal feasts in the name of one of the awliya

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18623 )
Q 1: In our region, some seasonal feasts are held in a group of villages, and each feast, or (several) as per our local terminology, takes the name of some of the awliya, whether well-known or not. What is the ruling on one who participates in these feasts?
A 1: The seasonal feast held in the name of a wali, which is repeated in the month or the year, is a blameworthy religious innovation and a means of shirk (associating partners with Allah). Therefore, it is not permissible to participate in it, nor to go to it, nor to eat from it; because it encourages the bid'ah (religious innovation), and it may lead the ignorant person to worship other than Allah from among the awliya and to believe in their benefit. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
It is agreed upon as authentic. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
It was narrated by Muslim in his (Sahih).
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
