I vowed to Allah that if this child lives, I will slaughter a sacrificial animal every year

Fatwa No. ( 20725 )
Q: I am a woman who never had a child who survived; every child I gave birth to died. I gave birth to a child and vowed to Allah that if this child lives, I will slaughter a sacrificial animal every year , and I designated the twenty-seventh of Rajab for this, which is called al-Rajabiyyah. I have continued with this, but I am an ignorant woman who did not know that al-Rajabiyyah is a religious innovation. However, I fear that this specific designation is a sin for me. Should I fulfill my vow with this specific designation, or should I change the time for the charity, or is there nothing required of me in this? Please advise us on what we should do, and may you be rewarded.
A: You must slaughter the sacrificial animal you vowed to offer every year, as a thanksgiving to Allah the Exalted, and distribute it to the poor and the needy. The slaughter should be on a day other than the one you designated, which is the twenty-seventh of Rajab. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
