A vow of three sacrifices if his son lives and survives: does he slaughter all three or is one sufficient?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 1781 )
Q: I vowed that if my son lives until the sheep return, I would slaughter a fatir; if he lives until the sheep graze all day, I would slaughter a fatir; and if he lives until he finishes from the market, I would slaughter a fatir. And my son meets
the three conditions. So, do I slaughter the three fatirs or just one?

A: Fulfilling a vow of obedience is obligatory. Allah the Exalted praised its doer in His Noble Book, saying:
They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا
[Al-Insan 76:7]
, and Allah commanded His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in what the Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated in his (Sahih) from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), saying:
Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him, and whoever vows to disobey Allah, let him not disobey Him.من نذر أن يطيع الله فليطعه، ومن نذر أن يعصي الله فلا يعصه
Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam)
. Therefore, the one who made the vow must fulfill it by slaughtering the three that he vowed, either together or separately, in one place or in several places, in one day or in several days. He may slaughter seven sheep for each fatir, either together or separately, as mentioned. The better course is to hasten to do so if he is able, to clear his conscience and to receive the reward for fulfilling the vow. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
