Giving the expiation to the poor at varying times
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 88921 )
Q 2: If I have sworn an oath, is it permissible for me to give charity to the poor and needy, not all at once, for example, four people on one day and six on another day, even if it is a month later? And if I cannot find an orphan, a poor person, or a needy person, is it permissible for me to pay it to the charitable association in my area? Is it permissible for me to feed five people and then repeat the same people again so that they become ten people?
A 2: One who breaks an oath by Allah or by one of His attributes owes an expiation, which is: feeding ten needy people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If one is unable to do any of that, it is obligatory for him to fast for three days. He may
feed the needy people together or separately, on one day or over several days. Hastening in good is better. It is not permissible for him to give it to a charitable association; rather, he should distribute it himself so that he can be assured that it was distributed in accordance with the Shari'ah. It is not permissible for him to give it to fewer than ten needy people. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
