Prolonging the conversation with a jinn
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16653 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on prolonging the conversation with a jinn when it speaks through the mouth of a possessed person? Is it established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or from the Companions that they engaged in conversing with a jinn, prolonging the discussion with it, and asking it, for example, about its name, its religion, its country, and who sent it? What is the evidence that the one speaking through the mouth of the possessed person is a jinn? We ask for an answer with valid evidence.
A 1 : It frequently happens that the jinn that mixes with humans speaks when the possessed person is treated with recitation from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, one should threaten it with Allah and warn it against harming a Muslim. The Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned something of this in his treatise (Iyadh al-Dalalah 'ala 'Amm
al-Risalah). You should refer to it, as it is beneficial on this topic, and one should not go to extremes in conversing with the jinn except to the extent of necessity.
