Praying Behind One Who Eats What Was Slaughtered for Other Than Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q 3: What is the ruling on praying behind a man who eats what was slaughtered for other than Allah , and who argues that he mentioned the name of Allah over the animal at the time of slaughter?
A 3 : The prayer behind a man who slaughters for other than Allah the Exalted is not valid, such as if he slaughters for the jinn, even if he mentions the name of Allah the Exalted over it; because this act is shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah the Exalted, and his prayer is not valid; because he is a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah). The same applies to one who permits slaughter for other than Allah the Exalted, even if he mentions the name of Allah over the slaughter; because, in the state described, it falls under the saying of Allah the Exalted:
and that which has been dedicated to other than Allahوَمَا أُهِلَّ بِهِ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:173]
. As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.إنما الأعمال بالنيات، وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
, and this person intended with the slaughtered animal to draw near to a wali (close friend of Allah) or to the jinn or to other created beings, such as the angels or idols or the like. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
