I vowed to fast for Allah on Thursdays and Mondays for the rest of my life as long as I live

Fatwa No. ( 4471 )
Q: I am a woman of weak constitution, the mother of children, and I have a son who is mentally disabled, meaning he is ill. I have taken a liking to fasting, and I vowed to fast for Allah on Thursdays and Mondays for the rest of my life as long as I live, but due to my inability to do so because of my children, especially the one who is ill, I have become confused. So I said: I will approach the mufti, hoping that there may be something that compensates for the fasting, such as charity or otherwise, or that it is obligatory upon me. I ask you, may Allah guide you to what is good, to answer me.
A: If the reality of your situation is as you described, namely your weakness in fulfilling the vow of fasting you made, it is sufficient for you to expiate it with the expiation of an oath. This is done by feeding ten poor people from your usual food, or clothing ten poor people by giving each of them a garment that covers their 'awrah, or freeing a believing slave. If you are unable to do that, then fast for three days, and it is better if they are consecutive. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
