The Meaning of Undutifulness to Parents

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 9402 )
Q 5: What is undutifulness to parents, and in detail, what does it encompass? If a woman insists on wearing the niqab and her parents refuse to accept that, is that undutifulness? And if a woman insists on refusing to work because it involves free mixing of men and women and sins, and her parents become angry and curse her, is this undutifulness, or is it that there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator? Does undutifulness mean cursing one's parents?
A : Undutifulness to parents is: harming them, even by speaking harshly, frowning, or disobeying them, except if they command what is wrong or forbid what is right; in that case, there is no obedience to them in it, even if they suffer from the disagreement, and this alone is not considered undutifulness to them, for
obedience to Allah is more deserving. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
