Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on undutifulness to parents, and what is the way to repentance?

Answer:
Answer: Undutifulness to parents is a major sin among the major sins, coming after associating partners with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because the right of the parents comes after the right of Allah. [And worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and show kindness to the parents] and [And your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and [show] kindness to the parents]. So undutifulness to them is a major sin among the major sins. If they are alive, he should seek their forgiveness, repent to Allah, and be dutiful to them. If they are dead and he was undutiful to them, he should seek forgiveness from Allah for them, supplicate to Allah for them, and give charity on their behalf, so that perhaps Allah will alleviate that from him.
