Undutifulness to parents

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This sister, Sarah, from Riyadh, says: O esteemed Shaykh Saleh, is there any guiding word for one who has been undutiful to his parents, especially the mother? I have been suffering from my daughter’s undutifulness for ten years or more; she has not contacted me, and I know nothing about her.

Answer:
Answer 14: Undutifulness to parents is a major sin among the major sins, coming after shirk (associating partners with Allah), because the right of the parents comes after the right of Allah. [The Qur'an says]: "And worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good." This is in many verses. So undutifulness to parents is a major sin among the major sins. Therefore, the child, whether male or female, if he or she has been undutiful to his or her parents, must repent to Allah, return to dutifulness toward his or her parents, and seek forgiveness for what he or she has done.
