My grandfather, my father's father, insults my father and me over worldly matters in which he believes we have erred
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 20920 )
Q1: My grandfather, my father's father, insults my father and me over worldly matters, believing that we have erred in them , and the neighbors hear his voice, but he does not care about that. He may even mention the secrets of the house in a loud voice so that those outside the house can hear him. On some occasions, he threatens to evict us from the house. For your information, he is an uneducated illiterate who knows only farming; he does not mix with people, not even the righteous among them. He prays the prayer at its time, but it is like the crowing of a rooster. And when we speak to him, he does not listen to us. So I ask you to clarify to us how we should deal with him? May Allah reward you.
A1: It is prescribed for you to be patient with his harm, to be kind to him, and not to harm him. Do not ask him to be kind to you. It is obligatory for you to teach him the prayer in the prescribed manner, and to ask Allah to guide him and to help you with him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
