A woman breastfed a child once for half an hour

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13107 )
Q: I have a son who is seven months old. One of my brothers and loved ones in Allah visited me, accompanied by his wife. She found my son crying because his mother was busy, so she took him and gave him her breast. He suckled from her for half an hour until he released the breast himself after being full. Does this woman become his mother or not? Please note that she does not know the number of breastfeedings, but rather the duration of breastfeeding, which is half an hour or more. Is the number of breastfeedings counted by holding the breast and releasing it, or by a full feeding? May Allah reward you and may Allah reward you with good.
A: Breastfeeding that establishes a prohibition is five breastfeedings or more within the first two years. If your son’s breastfeeding from the visiting wife was of this nature, then he is her son through breastfeeding, and a brother to all her children. Allah the Exalted said:
Prohibited to you [for marriage] are your mothers, your daughtersحُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ
[An-Nisa 4:23]
up to His saying:
your sisters through nursingوَأَخَوَاتُكُمْ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ
[An-Nisa 4:23]
And He the Exalted said:
Mothers may breastfeed their children two complete yearsوَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:233]
It is also established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
What is rendered illegal because of blood relations, is also rendered illegal because of the corresponding foster-relations.الرضاعة تحرم ما تحرم الولادة
Sahih al-Bukhari 3105
It is also established in the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: “What was revealed in the Qur'an included: ‘Ten known breastfeedings establish a prohibition.’ Then
it was abrogated by: ‘Five known breastfeedings.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away while the matter remained as such. Please note that a breastfeeding is defined as the child holding the breast and then suckling milk from it. If he lets go and returns to suckle milk, that is a second breastfeeding, and so on. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
