If the husband dies while he has been absent for a long period, is the waiting period and mourning obligatory?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 4225 )
Q3: A man died leaving behind a wife who had been absent from her husband for a year or two. She was absent from her husband due to travel or imprisonment. Is the waiting period for death obligatory for her if she learns of her husband's death or not?

A3: If a man dies leaving behind a woman who is absent from him, her waiting period begins from the date of death. If she does not learn of his death until the waiting period has ended, she is not required to begin another waiting period, and mourning is not obligatory for her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
