Q1: My mother is a woman who has been deceased for a long time, but after my father’s death, she did not observe the mourning period for him out of ignorance of the ruling. Is she required to do anything, or should I do something on her behalf?
A1: Your mother owes nothing for leaving off the mourning period after her husband’s death, because she is excused due to ignorance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
