Is there any advice for the guardians of young women to facilitate marriage for young men?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We all believe that marriage is obligatory for a young man who is capable and able in all respects, in obedience to the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that a person may protect his chastity. However, in this time, we may be deprived of enjoying this lawful right because of the obstacles and pitfalls that have surrounded it, making it a difficult matter, if not impossible. These include the high cost of bridal gifts, the expenses of the wedding, extravagance and waste, and other matters that have been made to seem obligatory, whereas Islam is innocent of them. I ask you to be kind enough to offer advice to the guardians of young women not to exaggerate in their conditions, to facilitate and ease the matter of marriage, and to be economical with the wedding feasts. May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : The obstacles mentioned by the brother regarding marriage are a reality, such as the high cost of bridal gifts, extravagance in wedding feasts, and gifts to the wife and her relatives, and the like. There is another obstacle, and I seek refuge in Allah, where some people treat their daughter as a commodity to be sold; whoever gives them more, they agree to marry her to him, even if he is not suitable for her in religion or character. Some guardians benefit from their ward, as she provides them with income from her salary, so they fear that if they marry her off, they will be deprived of that salary. There are other matters to be lamented and regretted that occur from a person who believes in Allah and the Last Day. It is obligatory for the guardians to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) regarding those whom Allah has placed under their care, and to know that they have no right to the bridal gift. The bridal gift belongs to the woman, for Allah attributed it to her in His saying:
And give the women [upon marriage] their [bridal] وءاتوا النساء صدقاتهن
[An-Nisa 4:4]
meaning their bridal gifts
And give the women [upon marriage] their [bridal] gifts graciously. But if they give up willingly to you anything of it, then take it in satisfaction and ease. وءاتوا النساء صدقاتهن نحلة فإن طبن لكم عن شيء منه نفسا فكلوه هنيئا مريئا
[An-Nisa 4:4]
. Her father or anyone else has no right to it. Therefore, it is not permissible for the father or anyone else to condition for himself any part of it. However, if the contract is completed and the wife possesses the bridal gift, the father may take possession of it, because the father has the right to take from his son's wealth, provided there is no harm to the son and the matter is not related to the son's need. I see that the solution to this problem lies in the agreement of the prominent people, dignitaries, and elders of the town. These people should be the first to implement this matter, because people follow their prominent ones, dignitaries, and elders. If the elders of the country undertake this matter and the common people see that they have actually implemented it, it will become easier, even if gradually. A thing cannot decrease suddenly, just as it cannot increase suddenly, but it must be done gradually. And Allah is the Helper.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
