The third and fourth questions of Fatwa No. ( 14893 )
Q3: I fell seriously ill, and my family and neighbors gathered that I have a jinn companion, and that it must be treated by performing incantations and the like. I did not agree, but I love reading the Qur'an and religious books and listening to hadiths, and I love the household of the Messenger of Allah, especially our master al-Husayn and the lady Zaynab , and I love visiting them. Is there any error in that?
A3 : It is not permissible to go to sorcerers to perform amulets or shirk-based incantations, but you should be treated by doctors with known medicines, or by one who reads the Qur'an and performs ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) with verses and permissible supplications. It is not permissible to go to graves and make supplication at them, and as for making supplication to the deceased in them, that is shirk
akbar (major shirk), and as for loving the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his household, that is a means of drawing near to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) if it is accompanied by doing what He commands and avoiding what He forbids. Know that women visiting graves is not permissible according to the most correct opinion of the scholars, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed those who visit graves.
