Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6990 )
Q 1: There is a man who uses snakes for medical treatment, and he claims that this is permissible due to circumstances and dire necessity. His method of using the snake is: he holds it and puts it in a pot of fat while it is still alive, and the pot is boiling on the fire. After that, he treats with the fat in which the snake was cooked, and the one who uses it gets intoxicated
with a light intoxication. Is it permissible to treat with this fat if it is established that it is beneficial for the illness, and is it permissible to put the snake in the fat while it is boiling on the fire?

A 1 : First: It is not permissible to put an animal while it is alive in a boiling liquid; because of the torture of the animal involved in that, and this is prohibited by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
so when you kill, kill in a good wayإذا قتلتم فأحسنوا القتلة
Sahih Muslim 1955a
the hadith. Second: It is not permissible to treat with snakes or with the fat in which they were cooked; because it is not permissible to eat them according to the correct of the two opinions of the scholars, and their carrion is ritually impure, and treating with what is forbidden is forbidden. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
